Editorial Policy

Our promise to readers on how we gather, verify, and present market research and educational content.

Our Editorial Promise

We believe that good research is transparent, honest, and accountable. Dependability Holdings publishes market commentary and educational content under a simple commitment: we separate news and analysis from opinion, we cite our sources, and we correct errors promptly when they occur.

We do not accept payment for coverage. We do not have relationships with the brokerages, exchanges, or financial product providers we discuss in our research. Our only obligation is to readers who want clear, disciplined, honest market analysis.

Source Citation Standard

Every factual claim we make in our market commentary is traceable to publicly available data. We reference:

  • Yahoo Finance — Daily closing prices, volume, and historical data for major indices and ETFs
  • CBOE — VIX levels, volatility metrics, and options exchange data
  • FRED (Federal Reserve Economic Data) — GDP, employment, inflation, and broader macroeconomic indicators
  • SEC Filings — Financial statements, annual reports, and regulatory filings for specific companies when relevant

Where we rely on third-party analysis (analyst notes, news events, or commentary from other sources), we attribute them clearly. We do not pass off quoted material as our own analysis.

News vs. Analysis vs. Opinion

We distinguish between three types of content:

  • News — Factual market events (prices, economic data releases, Fed announcements). Presented without spin.
  • Analysis — Our interpretation of market data using our established methodology. We explain the reasoning and state our confidence level.
  • Opinion — Personal viewpoints on market philosophy, strategy preferences, or investment approach. Clearly labeled as such.

When we express a directional view on the market, we clearly label it as analysis based on our framework — not a prediction. We never present opinion as established fact.

Review Process

Before any content is published, it goes through a review process to check for:

  • Accuracy — Are the data points cited correct? Are the calculations accurate?
  • Clarity — Is the analysis presented clearly, without unnecessary jargon?
  • Consistency — Does the analysis align with our stated methodology and editorial standards?
  • Completeness — Have we addressed the most relevant factors? Are there significant risks or counterarguments we haven't mentioned?

This review is internal. We do not submit market commentary to external parties for review or approval.

Update Policy

Market commentary — Our daily S&P 500 outlooks and volatility analysis are updated at the end of each trading day. If market conditions change materially between scheduled updates (e.g., an unexpected Fed announcement, geopolitical event, or major data release), we publish an interim update.

Educational content — Articles covering investment concepts, strategy explanations, and risk management principles are reviewed on a quarterly basis. If a material inaccuracy is identified between review cycles, it is corrected promptly.

Errata — When we correct an error in previously published content, we note the correction with a clear explanation of what changed and when. Significant corrections are flagged at the top of the article.

Conflict of Interest Policy

We have no financial relationships with any broker, exchange, financial product provider, or investment advisory firm we reference in our content.

We do not accept sponsored content, paid placements, or affiliate revenue from financial products. We do not receive compensation from any brokerage in exchange for mentioning their platform. The Dependability Holdings website may display advertising via Google AdSense, but this does not influence the editorial content we publish.

If at any point we establish a financial relationship with a company or product we cover, we will disclose that relationship prominently in the relevant content.

Performance Claims and Backtesting

We do not publish hypothetical or backtested performance results.

Trade ideas on this site are presented as educational examples illustrating how a strategy works under specified market conditions. They are not track records. We do not claim that following our trade ideas will produce any particular result.

When we discuss historical market behavior (e.g., "VIX has historically averaged X during periods of Y"), we provide the data source and the time period covered. We do not cherry-pick time periods to present a misleading picture of historical performance.

Advertising and Revenue

Dependability Holdings generates revenue through:

  • Google AdSense — Contextual advertising displayed on the website. Ad placement is automated; editorial content is never influenced by advertisers.
  • No subscription fees — All market commentary, educational content, and research is freely accessible.

Advertising does not create a conflict of interest with our editorial mission. We maintain a clear separation between advertising revenue and editorial decision-making.

Reader Feedback and Corrections

We welcome reader feedback, including notifications of potential errors or disagreements with our analysis. If you believe we have made an error in our market commentary or educational content, please contact us through our contact page.

We review all substantive feedback and correct errors promptly when verified. We do not ignore credible challenges to our analysis — intellectual honesty requires it.
